ShoppingList, Your Silent Prompt for Doing Shopping

Doing shopping with a previously written list of items one needs to buy has double effect. First of all it ensures that nothing will be forgotten, while sticking to a list helps to escape frivolous spending (especially when prone to one). Werner Freytag comes up with a collection of individualized lists presented in its ShoppingList application.

The list template reminds grid paper on which the users can compile their own lists by beginning adding items using ‘+’ icon (bottom left corner), or can view the main listing using the Lists icon (top left corner). This main page supports the options of more lists creation as well categorizing those lists by store or any other criteria. The ‘+’ icon is used to create a new list, while the “edit” option allows removing the unnecessary ones.

There is also a navigation bar with more options and tools at the bottom of this view. The icon to the right allows connecting via Bluetooth to another device or emailing the entire database. The icon reminding a human profile reveals the “about” option, further to the left of which there is one of the most important features, the “settings”, with the options of List Appearance, List Index, Products, Completed Products, and Miscellaneous. This feature has quite a number of functions ranging from adjusting the lists’ order and font sizes and up to the language choice and paper design.

In the process of actual compilation users are given the choice of either using the default frequently used lists or compile their own one. Another convenience is that users can view the products’ final amounts if they know their costs, as the ShoppingList will calculate and give the total amount necessary for the planned purchase (this may save the user having the unwelcome surprise upon hearing it in the store).

Despite the fact that all of the ShoppingList’s useful tools are most typical for any application of this kind, its layout is undeniably more user-friendly, and yet it is not very rich in features that make it really stand out in the ample variety of other similar applications for iPhone. The products list-making apps market is very rich and it is rather difficult to recommend a particular one as a best choice, for the key factors here, when it comes to purchasing such a product, are the user’s desire and preferences.
